    Recipes From Penny Korsmaros Reinsma

HoHo Cake (suppose to taste like a Hostess HoHo)

    1 Box deep chocolate cake
    5 Tbsp flour
    1 1/4 c. milk
    2 sticks butter
    1 c. granulated sugar
    1/2 c Crisco
    1 1/4 tsp vanilla divided
    2 1/2 t hot water
    1 egg
    3 pkg unsweetened chocolate,
    3 c. powdered sugar

Bake cake according to directions for the 9x13 pan and cool completely. Blend flour with milk over low heat until thick—cool completely. Cream 1 stick of butter, sugar, 1/2 tsp. of vanilla and the Crisco for 4 minutes. Blend in flour/milk mixture and beat for 1 more minute. Spread on the baked and cooled cake. Melt the butter and chocolate. Add 1 tsp. vanilla, the hot water egg and the powdered sugar. Beat well, then spread on top of the white filling. Refrigerate for several hours or overnight.

    Pretzel Jell-O Salad

    Crust:
    2 2/3 c coarsely crushed pretzels
    3/4 c butter, melted
    3T sugar

combine all ingredients and press into a 9x 13 pan. Bake at 350 for 10 minutes remove and cool

    Layer 2
    8 oz. cream cheese
    1 C. sugar
8 oz. Cool Whip (not low fat or sugar free)

Cream sugar and cream cheese in a mixing bowl on medium speed. Fold in Cool Whip and spread on pretzels.

    Layer 3
    2 small pkgs. strawberry jell-O (4serving size)
    2 C. boiling water
    1 pt frozen strawberries thawed

Add Jell-O to boiling water and stir until Jell-O is melted. Cool for 20 minutes on top of the stove. When the Jell-O is lukewarm but not starting to set yet, add the strawberries. Pour over top of the cream cheese layer. Cool for 2 hours or more to let the Jell-O set.

I hope you like these, they are always at every potluck and party around here.
